AUTHENTIC AND TRADITIONAL TALAVERA BRACELET
Centered in a beautiful bracelet of high-polish sterling silver is a hand-painted dark ash gray ceramic orb with black petal motifs using traditional Talavera techniques from the 17th century. Accompanied with black and silver beads, this lovely bracelet can be worn in both elegant as well as casual settings.
WHY IS THIS PEICE SO SPECIAL?
Handcrafted in Mexico by artisans of Puebla, this exquisite peice features an authentic Talavera bead made from the earth surrounding the massive volcano Popocatépetl (which means "smoking mountain" in Nahuatl, the ancient language of the Aztecs). A special mixture of clays using the volcanic ash that mixes with the soil is then kiln fired at 800° C (1472°F). Next, each piece is hand-painted using only six specific pigments, which come from natural minerals native to the surrounding region. A thick tin glaze puts the essential touch on each piece, and a final firing process makes Talavera pottery extremely durable. Each peice can take up to one month to complete, and must follow the traditional techniques used in the 17th century in order to be considered authentic.
